2014 Vibes from Bobby Hutcherson – Enjoy the View and there’s Hammond B3, too!!

Enjoy the ViewOne of the albums that has been in m music rotation since its release on last Tuesday is Enjoy the View, the latest release from the great Bobby Hutcherson. The release of the album marks Hutcherson’s return to the Blue Note Records label where he started his career in the 1960s. The album was produced by Blue Note President Don Was and is part of the 75th year celebrations of Blue Note Records.

Hutcherson’s comparades on the album include  saxophonist D avid Sanborn, drummer Billy Hart and on Hammond B3 organ Joey DeFrancesco! Damn I know when I listened to the album  for the first time, that the organ was really good!! And so was Hutcherson, as the band wound it ways through seven orginal compositions. I know that as I listened this morning to the album that I checked to see what the name of the songs were when “Little Flower” and “Montara” came on, which is usually an indication that they will be favorite tracks – but I really think that they all will be – So Check it out!

Now I don’t see any videos relating to the album, so let;s go “into the morning” watching Bobby and Joey perform “Somewhere in the Night” at Jazz Baltica, Salzau, Germany 2007. Personnel: Joey DeFrancesco, B-3 organ; Bobby Hutcherson, vibes; Ron Blake, tenor sax; Ulf Wakenius, guitar; Byron Landham, drums.
