Chris Daniels – Better Days

Over the last few days I’ve been listening to another album that I spotted at 16 on that old FAR Chart, Chris Daniels’ Better Days. It only took about 30 seconds some mandolin and dobro and  knew that I would like this album and I was right, now I still haven’t had I chance listen to the full album ….I look forward to the last tracks on the album that are live from Telluride with the New Grass Revival! Anyway here’s some information about Chris Daniels. Typically, Chris plays with the Kings and as such they have played with a who’s who of musicians including the likes of: B.B. King, Uncle Cracker, Blues Traveler, The Neville Brothers, Delbert McClinton, Sister Hazel, Sheryl Crow, Robert Cray, Taj Mahal, Al Kooper, Bonnie Raitt, Ziggy Marley, and The Fixx ! Better Days is first first solo project in 30 years!

From his website:

Better Days is Chris Daniels new solo project – a project that includes a line up of guest musicians from Swallow Hill Music favorites to acoustic and bluegrass legends. This is Daniels’sfirst solo project in 30 years. This concert and album release will be a return to Chris’s roots – with the help of an amazing line up of friends and, of course, finishing out with the Kings.

Why is this important: Isn’t Better Days just another band’s CD release party?

No, not at all! There are number of reasons this is a remarkable story:

* An amazing cast of characters came out to help this project get completed including Richie Furay, Sam Bush, John Magnie, Mollie O’Brien, Hazel Miller, Greg Garrison, members of the Queen City Jazz Band and many more – plus nationally recognized Colorado graphic artist(s) William Matthews and Greg Carr contributed their art to the project.

* Daniels is alive. It’s been two years since he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and then underwent a bone marrow transplant via stem cells from his sister Jane. The album Better Days would not exist had it not been for Dr. Jane Moffett, and she is flying in from New York for the show!

So thanks Jane Moffett and Chris Daniels, I’m glad you’re still hanging out, looking for Better Days and making some great music! Here’s the Offical Video for “Better Days”
